[Source: Observer Network by Pan Yuchen and Liu Huaizhu, edited by Gao Shen] According to a report by Bloomberg on April 6, Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives recently significantly cut his price target for Tesla's stock. In a report sent to clients on Sunday, he said that Wedbush has lowered Tesla's target price from $550 to $315, a reduction of as much as 43%.
Ives cited the brand crisis caused by Tesla CEO Musk and US President Trump's trade policies as the reason. In the report, he stated, "Tesla has become a political symbol globally, and now is the time for Musk to demonstrate his leadership in this uncertain period."
As an analyst at Wedbush, Ives has maintained a "buy" rating for Tesla over the past four years. Prior to this price target adjustment, his target price for Tesla ranked second among 72 analysts. Even after this downgrade, he still maintains an "outperform" rating for Tesla.
Ives expressed his greatest concern about the possibility that Tesla could face boycotts in China due to Trump's tariff policy. Last year, more than one-fifth of Tesla's revenue came from China.
"This will further drive Chinese consumers toward local brands such as BYD, NIO, and XPeng," Ives noted in the report. "We estimate that Tesla has lost at least 10% of its customers worldwide due to the brand crisis, and this is a conservative estimate."

Tesla's stock price trend since 2025 Nasdaq
Since Trump announced the new tariff policy on April 2, Tesla's stock price has plummeted by 15% in two days. Since 2025, Tesla's stock price has been declining continuously. To date, the decline has exceeded 38%.
"Currently, Tesla's situation is unsustainable as it becomes a political symbol, with its brand being damaged day by day," Ives said. "There is no doubt that Musk is at a critical moment of success or failure - either he turns the tide or the future will be even darker."
