Vladimir Putin says Russia's shift to the East is a natural move

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia's shift to the East is prudent and natural. He pointed out that the economic development of Eastern countries and the Global South has exceeded that of Western countries.

"This is a natural process of shifting. We are proceeding steadily without rushing, but we see that these countries have started to buy more of our goods, so we have increased exports," Putin said in an interview with "Normand TV." He emphasized that cooperation between Russia and the East and the Global South has been continuously developing since the 2000s, and the current shift policy has nothing to do with the situation in Ukraine.

In October this year, Putin announced that Russia plans to deepen political, economic, and cultural ties with Central Asian countries. Russian Energy Minister Sergey Civelev pointed out that Russia has adjusted the supply of natural gas, oil, petroleum products, and coal from the West to the East and the South. According to data from Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the share of oil supplies to friendly countries has reached 94%, and supplies to the Asia-Pacific region have increased to 81%.
