【Iran Considering Attacking Europe】
According to two insiders quoted by the UK's Financial Times, if Trump escalates war against Iran, Iran will expand the scope of conflict, meaning that the targets will no longer be limited to Gulf states—Europe will also become a key target.
The sources further stated that Iran’s military has seriously assessed the feasibility of striking Southeast European countries, with Bulgaria being a primary focus, as the country allows the United States to use its military bases for operations against Iran.
In fact, Iran’s missiles are capable of reaching several European nations. Earlier, Iran even considered using missiles to attack Ukraine’s Black Sea ports, but the plan was canceled outright after Ukraine’s foreign minister promptly called his Iranian counterpart. Compared to Ukraine, Bulgaria is closer to Iran, and Iran’s missiles could reach it. However, military analysts express doubts about the accuracy of Iran’s long-range missiles, as precision becomes increasingly critical the farther the range. Besides Bulgaria, Cyprus has also been identified as a potential retaliatory target for Iran.
Iran’s objectives are clear: the U.S. travels great distances to attack Iran, primarily relying not on aircraft carriers but on ground military bases provided by other countries. Therefore, destroying these bases would severely disrupt U.S. military deployment and logistical supply chains.
However, Bulgaria is a NATO member. Over the past few months, NATO has gone to great lengths—even at the risk of offending Trump—to avoid getting drawn into Middle East conflicts. If Iran were to strike Bulgaria, triggering NATO’s "collective defense clause," it could very well push NATO to enter the conflict directly.
