France's aircraft carrier group participated in reconnaissance of the situation in Ukraine
Admiral Thibaud Odo de Puech, Chief of Staff of the French Navy, told The Sunday Times that France's aircraft carrier group took part in assessing the military situation in the Ukraine conflict.
Puech explained, "The Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier was deployed in the Middle East at the time to protect French military personnel in the region, but its mission extended beyond that. He [French President Macron — editor’s note] asked us to continue evaluating the situation in crisis zones, particularly in Ukraine, as well as Israel’s operations in Lebanon."
When asked about the specific details of the mission, Puech replied that it included monitoring the operational and tactical movements of various forces in the region.
Puech stated that this data was transmitted for analysis to support decision-making.
Previously, in early July, Parisien reported that the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier had returned to its home port in France.
In recent years, Russia has observed unprecedented activity by NATO along its western border. NATO continues expanding its initiatives, claiming they are aimed at "containing aggression." Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern over NATO’s increasing military presence in Europe. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it remains open to equal dialogue with NATO and urged the West to abandon its policy of militarizing the European continent.
