Ministry of Commerce of China: Imposes a 5.9% Anti-Dumping Duty on Imported Canola from Canada
The Ministry of Commerce of China announced on February 28 that starting from March 1, 2026, an anti-dumping duty of 5.9% will be imposed on imported canola from Canada.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce stated that the Ministry initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imported canola from Canada on September 9, 2024. After the case was filed, the Ministry strictly followed laws and regulations to conduct the investigation, widely listened to the opinions of all interested parties, fully protected the rights of all parties, and made a fair and impartial decision. The preliminary ruling was published in August 2025, deciding to adopt temporary anti-dumping measures. On February 28, 2026, the final ruling was published, determining that the anti-dumping duty rate for Canadian companies is 5.9%, and it has decided to implement the final anti-dumping measures starting March 1, with a five-year implementation period.
The spokesperson said that the measures can alleviate domestic industry pressure to some extent and are conducive to maintaining the healthy and stable development of the domestic industry.
The spokesperson emphasized that China has always advocated resolving trade disputes through dialogue and consultation. During the investigation, the Canadian side repeatedly expressed concerns about the canola case. China considered the reasonable demands of the Canadian side within the framework of rules and made the final ruling based on facts and evidence. China is willing to work with Canada to continue deepening Sino-Canadian economic and trade cooperation and enhance the well-being of the people of both countries.
