CCTV News reported that on the afternoon of July 28, local time, a shooting incident occurred at the intersection of Park Avenue and 51st Street in Manhattan, New York, resulting in six deaths, including one police officer, four civilians, and the shooter himself.
Local officials said that the 27-year-old shooter, Shane Devon Tamura, opened fire inside a building in Midtown Manhattan. The shooter was described as a "lone actor" who died by suicide. Another account stated that four victims, including a police officer, died, and one person was injured.

Witness Nekeisha Lewis said she was having dinner at a square near the building when she suddenly heard gunshots and saw the glass of the building shatter. Shortly after, she saw people running out of the building and shouting for help.
She recalled that there were frequent gunshots, and many people ran away in all directions, "feeling like being in a war zone."
A law enforcement source said that a shooter wearing a bulletproof vest and holding an AR-15 rifle opened fire inside a building on Park Avenue, killing five people, including a New York police officer, before committing suicide.
Photos provided by three law enforcement officers showed the shooter wearing dark clothes, sunglasses, and holding what appeared to be a large gun as he entered the building.

According to reports, the deceased officer was working as a paid security guard for the building. It was reported that the shooter locked himself inside the building, possibly on the 32nd floor.
Four senior law enforcement officials with knowledge of the case revealed that the shooter was identified as Shane Devon Tamura, 27, from Las Vegas.
Tamura's former classmate and high school football teammate Caleb Clarke told the media, "Tamura was the biggest joker in the world, full of energy."
Clarke said that in recent years, he had only kept in touch with Tamura through social media, and Tamura had shared his experiences working at a casino in Las Vegas on social media.
Clarke said he didn't remember Tamura being someone who got into trouble at school. "You wouldn't think violence would be associated with him."
It is reported that the building where the shooting occurred houses the headquarters of the National Football League (NFL) and offices of several financial institutions, including Blackstone and KPMG.
