According to Russian news agency on August 8 local time, Belarusian President Lukashenko said that Belarus' development of relations with China is not a substitute for its relations with Russia.

Lukashenko recently gave an interview to the American magazine Time. When talking about Belarus-China relations, he said, "We have very solid relations, and you know, my youngest son is studying in China. We have built a warm and friendly family-like relationship with them, which is not because I want to seek security or leave a way out in relations with Russia."

In the interview, he also pointed out that Russia and China are still Belarus's main allies and friends.
