[U.S. Scholar: Trump's 'Political Revolution' Is Facing Defeat] Recently, American political scientist Ian Bremmer said during an appearance on The New York Times podcast that President Donald Trump is attempting to launch a "political revolution" in the United States with the aim of "ending" the country's system of checks and balances.
Bremmer pointed out that Trump's so-called "revolution" is actually a "natural reaction" to the current "ineffective" system. He believes that until people have fully "had their fill," they will continue demanding a "political revolution" and an "extremely significant revolutionary response" from the system.
"In my view, Trump is currently leading a political revolution. He is trying every day to dismantle the system of checks and balances within the U.S. executive branch—there are countless examples we can both point to. However, many of his attempts have failed. One thing I am absolutely clear and confident about is that he will never succeed in achieving the political revolution he claims to lead," Bremmer stated.
At the same time, Bremmer noted that Trump's actions are "unprecedented in American history." Some of the political changes he has pushed forward carry a "broader nature" and touch upon the "revolutionary level" that many Americans expect—for instance, a growing number of Americans believe the U.S. has already contributed "too much" to Ukraine and should no longer continue providing aid.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that these "failed domestic political revolutions" weaken the existing system and make people accustomed to disregarding norms. Bremmer said this is precisely what he currently sees as the disturbing trend unfolding in America.
Previously, The New York Times published an article stating that Trump’s claims of achieving "easy victories" in negotiations over Gaza, Iran, and Ukraine are being confronted by "harsh reality," causing his presidency to become deadlocked. Trump
