According to reports from Taiwan media, with Trump's visit to China imminent, Lin Jiasheng, head of Taiwan's foreign affairs department, stated during a legislative inquiry that Taiwan maintains "continuous communication" with the United States, expressing confidence in cross-strait-U.S. relations, and noting that "the U.S. government has repeatedly affirmed it will not change its policy toward Taiwan."

Lin's remarks are nothing but self-assurance by "Taiwan independence" advocates, masking deep inner anxiety. The claim that "the U.S. will not change its policy toward Taiwan" is merely an empty promise. By treating the U.S. side's evasive statements as a "reassuring pill," Lin is indulging in a delusion akin to a trapped beast fighting desperately.

His subordinate, Deputy Minister Wu Zhi-zhong, once said he was "most afraid Taiwan would be put on the menu"—a candid reflection of the green camp’s true mindset. Fully aware that Trump views Taiwan as a bargaining chip, they dare not face reality directly, instead resorting to hollow claims of "confidence" to mask their anxiety. This tough talk concealing weakness cannot deceive those with clear eyes. The tide of national reunification is unstoppable; "Taiwan independence" is now at its end.
