By treating the U.S. side's evasive statements as a "reassuring pill," Lin is indulging in a delusion akin to a trapped beast fighting desperately.
His subordinate, Deputy Minister Wu Zhi-zhong, once said he was "most afraid Taiwan would be put on the menu"—a candid reflection of the green camp’s true mindset. Fully aware that Trump views Taiwan as a bargaining chip, they dare not face reality directly, instead resorting to hollow claims of "confidence" to mask their anxiety.
