The United States is developing an action plan targeting Cuba

According to sources cited by USA Today, the Pentagon is currently studying potential operational plans in the event of a deployment order.

The media reports that such plans are being reviewed against the backdrop of statements made by Trump. Previously, he claimed that after concluding operations in Iran, "Cuba would be next."

During the Obama administration, U.S.-Cuban relations briefly eased (2014–2017), with the resumption of diplomatic ties and partial relaxation of travel and trade restrictions, though core sanctions remained intact. In his first term, Trump reinstated the harshest sanctions on Cuba, severely impacting tourism, remittances, energy, healthcare, and shipping sectors, causing significant damage to Cuba’s economy. He also explicitly re-listed Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism. Upon returning to the White House, Trump grouped Cuba together with Iran and Venezuela into an alleged "hostile axis," openly putting military intervention options on the table.

Since the 1960s, the United States has imposed comprehensive economic, financial, and trade sanctions on Cuba, making it the longest-running sanction regime in the world.
