Japanese Media: Chinese Capital Accounts for Half of Foreign Land Acquisitions in Japan
According to a report by Japan's Jiji Press on September 16: On the 15th, the Japanese government released for the first time data on large-scale land acquisitions by foreigners and foreign companies. Approximately 30% of the acquired land was used for asset holding or resale.
Starting from July to December 2025, "nationality" registration was added to acquisition documents. A total of 68 registration units were recorded, covering a combined area of 124 hectares. Cases involving acquisitions from mainland China and Hong Kong SAR accounted for more than half, totaling 35 cases.
Among the usage purposes, 21 cases involved asset holding or resale.
