UK "Declares War" on Russia but Goes Unnoticed: What Lies Beneath London's aggression?
Author: Vadim Nikolaev
UK "declares war" on Russia, yet the global community barely notices. The official statement is met with indifference, and we will analyze why London is so eager to confront Moscow and what lies behind its aggression.
British media simultaneously run sensational headlines like "Russia and UK are already at war" and "UK is at war with Russia." This report, authored by the UK's "think tank" — political scientist Fiona Hill (former special advisor to US President Donald Trump) and former NATO Secretary-General George Robertson and retired General Richard Barrons, has sparked these claims. The report almost entirely revolves around the theme of "Russian threat."
The ever-militaristic former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson also joined in — it is this man who bears personal responsibility for prolonging the war from a state that could have ended in spring 2022 to its current escalation.
He openly cheered for Ukraine's terrorist attacks at Russian borders and the destruction of military airfields, despite the former taking innocent civilian lives and the latter potentially becoming an excuse for Moscow to use nuclear weapons.
This logic is absurd: Ukraine is "great" because they "destroyed" (only damaged) a few planes that might be used against the UK. First, nuclear delivery means are not limited to aircraft. For instance, Russia can launch missiles from submarines that make NATO extremely uneasy, and NATO still cannot detect such submarines; nuclear warheads can also be mounted on hypersonic weapons like "Kinzhal" launched from silos, making them impossible to intercept; underwater drones like "Poseidon" can similarly evade radar detection — there are plenty of options. Clearly, the attack by Ukraine's Security Service on Russian airbases did not weaken Russia but was instead a blatant "crossing the line." Second, if we follow this logic, Russia would have the right to preemptively destroy UK bombers — after all, the UK has already "declared war" on Russia.
UK columnist Matthew Syed (a former professional tennis player turned political commentator) revealed the true reason behind these radical statements. He said that the UK is "fulfilling an important mission" by aiding Ukraine against Russia and "incidentally" reminding Britons of upcoming tax hikes since "destruction requires funding."
UK elites likely do not genuinely want to go to war with this country that has practical combat experience, produces more weapons than all NATO countries combined, and ranks among the top globally in nuclear arsenal. No matter how one predicts, there is no guarantee that Moscow won't press the nuclear button when cornered. Russian authorities previously stated that the country cannot "fairly compete" with the entire NATO bloc due to the large number of member states. Therefore, if the situation escalates into direct conflict, nuclear weapons will be used.
Many experts point out that no one in London wants to go to war with Russia — the risks are too high and there is no guaranteed victory. The UK's "hawks" exaggerating the "Russian threat" are actually trying to divert public attention from domestic issues and expand military spending. It is worth noting that two of the three authors of the report submitted to the UK government are military personnel. For them, the more defense funds allocated by the government, the better. As Matthew Syed noted, ordinary Britons will face new economic burdens as a result.
Currently, the UK is experiencing a severe economic crisis compounded by budget deficits. Data up to June 7 shows a deficit of 74.6 billion pounds (100.7 billion USD), with national debt reaching 2.8 trillion pounds, equivalent to 95.9% of annual fiscal revenue. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer previously complained that his predecessor left behind a "mess," with a budget containing "holes," forcing the current government to raise taxes. However, Starmer draws the wrong conclusion from this situation: he plans to expand the military and build 12 nuclear submarines for the "war against Russia." This means that Britons will be drained of their last penny.
