Russian President Putin and Iranian President Pezeshkian have agreed to hold a meeting in China during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

The Kremlin Press Service announced on August 25 that this consensus was reached during a telephone conversation between the two heads of state.

The statement said, "Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed their willingness to further expand cooperation between Russia and Iran in all fields, and agreed to meet at the upcoming SCO Summit held in China."

The SCO Summit will be held in Tianjin, China from August 31 to September 1.

According to the Kremlin Press Service, the leaders of Russia and Iran also discussed cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and transportation during the telephone conversation. In addition, both sides discussed the situation regarding the Iranian nuclear issue and developments in the South Caucasus region.

Putin will pay a four-day visit to China.
