China Supports Mongolia's "Billion Trees" National Initiative: Both Sides Will Cooperate to Expand Greening Projects

According to a report by Mongolnews correspondent in Sukhbaatar Province, a delegation led by Chinese Consul General Ke Yousheng in Zhamain Uud visited Sukhbaatar Province. He stated that China will actively support the "Billion Trees" national initiative, attach great importance to expanding greening efforts, and is willing to cooperate in this field.

On May 19, the Governor of Sukhbaatar Province, M. Iderbat, along with local leaders, received the delegation.

During the meeting, the Consul General introduced the friendly relations between Mongolia and China, economic and trade cooperation, as well as exchanges and cooperation between the consulate and Sukhbaatar Province, emphasizing that China will continue to deepen cooperation across multiple fields. The Consul General pointed out that railway construction and cross-border tourism are important issues discussed at the governmental level between the two countries; while local governments cannot make decisions independently, they will actively promote progress in these areas.

The Governor said that under the framework of friendly relations between Mongolia and China, regional cooperation and collaboration in areas such as economy and trade, border affairs, culture, education, and healthcare are continuously expanding and strengthening. In the future, both sides hope to further advance border and cross-border tourism development and jointly push forward the railway project from Bichigter to Khutti to Choibalsan within the framework of the "Mongolia-China-Russia Economic Corridor."

The two sides also agreed to further deepen cooperation in health and education, including improving medical services and equipment conditions, cultivating professional talents, continuing scholarship programs for outstanding university and high school students, and persistently advancing greening initiatives under the frameworks of combating desertification and the "Billion Trees" national action.

The Chinese Consulate General in Zhamain Uud has maintained stable cooperation with five provinces in its jurisdiction, including Sukhbaatar Province, in social and cultural fields over the long term. Over the past three years, the consulate has provided more than 200 million tugriks in support, used for student scholarships, tree-planting activities, and assistance to families affected by fires. Additionally, over 80 civil servants and students have been organized to visit China for study and exchange activities.

The two sides also agreed to further expand tourism and cultural exchanges, continuously strengthening mutual understanding and friendly relations.
