Media: US and EU agree to resume sanctions against Iran in late August
According to Axios website, citing sources, the US, France, Germany, and the UK have decided to set late August as the final date to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran, and if no agreement is reached, they will resume the sanctions previously lifted.
The report pointed out that the US Secretary of State Rubio and the foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the UK reached this agreement during a telephone conversation on July 14.
If a new agreement cannot be reached before this date, the three European countries plan to activate the automatic resumption of all sanctions mechanisms canceled by the UN Security Council under the framework of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
