This international commentary, Mushu analyzes Iran's demand for China.

On July 14, the Iranian Ministry of Communications confirmed that deliberate GPS interference during and after the war with Israel affected millions of citizens. The ministry also stated that due to the possibility of future precise strikes by Israel against Iranian targets, Iran is considering adopting China's Beidou system.

The Deputy Minister of Communications, Qisaz, revealed that political priorities after the ceasefire with Israel may lead to a change in satellite positioning systems.

Although most modern military drones and missiles use encrypted GPS signals for military purposes, some reconnaissance drones and guided bombs still rely on unencrypted, open GPS signals, making them vulnerable to interference.

It was reported that during the war, GPS global positioning system disruptions occurred near military and security locations such as the Iranian Defense Ministry and around the residence of Khamenei, which are sensitive areas.

Even after the war, there was significant GPS interference within Iran. In recent days, Tehran has felt this chaos more than most regions.

For example, Tehran residents found that their mobile phones' navigation apps developed domestically in Iran, including some international navigation systems, have been showing incorrect maps.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Communications also confirmed that Iran is currently exploring alternative navigation systems and pointed out that China's Beidou navigation system is one of the considerations.

He said, "The Islamic Republic will seek alternatives, such as China's Beidou system. This system has been proposed as one of the core elements of a long-term joint agreement between Tehran and Beijing during ongoing negotiations."

However, he did not elaborate on specific details of the discussion between China and Iran, such as whether deployment timelines have already been determined.

Mushu believes that in the long term, Iran switching to the Beidou navigation system is a necessity. Unless Iran and the United States reach an agreement to significantly open up to the West, as long as they continue to enrich uranium, or even have a secret nuclear program, it is inevitable for the Khamenei regime to use non-Western navigation systems.
