South Korean media: CATL's net profit surged 41% in the third quarter!
On October 21, South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that the world's largest battery company, CATL, recently announced that it achieved sales of 104.2 billion yuan in the third quarter of this year, operating profit of 16.4 billion yuan, and net profit of 18.5 billion yuan.
Sales increased by 12.9% compared to the same period last year, and net profit surged by 41.2%.
Cumulative sales up to the third quarter this year reached 283.1 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3% year-on-year; cumulative net profit reached 49 billion yuan, an increase of 36.2% year-on-year.
CATL announced that energy storage systems (ESS) accounted for 20% of its 180 GWh battery shipments in the third quarter. CATL explained that the expansion of ESS business contributed to the growth of net profit.
It was revealed that sales in the Chinese market accounted for 70%, and sales overseas accounted for 30%.
To target the European and Southeast Asian markets, CATL is also building production facilities in Germany, Hungary, Spain, and Indonesia. The first production line of its Hungarian factory has an annual capacity of 30 GWh and is about to start operations. Its German factory has already started operations. In Spain, CATL is collaborating with Stellantis, the fourth-largest automobile manufacturer in the world, to build a battery factory. The construction project of the Indonesian factory is expected to start operations in the first half of next year.
CATL continues to maintain its leading position in China. According to data from the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA), CATL's battery installation volume last month was 32.51 GWh, with a market share of 42.81%, an increase of 0.47 percentage points compared to the previous month.
