Mun, "Daily Sun" report, October 20. Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, advisor to the local government, rural development and cooperation affairs of Bangladesh, who was a main coordinator of the "Students Against Discrimination Organization" that led student movements in 2024, stated that the interim government has canceled ten bilateral agreements signed by the Hasina government with India. Bhuyain pointed out that after the establishment of the interim government, discussions began on the bilateral agreements signed by the Hasina government with India, and a decision to cancel them was made after a comprehensive review. The canceled agreements include six categories: first, bilateral connectivity, such as the Tripura-Comilla railway connectivity project between India and Bangladesh; second, water management projects, such as the Feni River water management project; third, port development projects, namely the "2018 Port Usage Road and Waterway Development Agreement"; fourth, energy cooperation projects, namely the "2019 Petroleum Pipeline Extension Agreement"; fifth, economic investment agreements, which facilitate Indian companies' investments in the Mirsarai and Mongla Industrial Export Zones (IEZ) in Bangladesh; sixth, a tugboat agreement signed with India's state-owned defense shipyard (GRSE), involving the provision of tugboats for use by Bangladeshi ports or maritime authorities for towing ships, clearing channels, and rescue operations. In addition, the Kushiara River water sharing project, which was launched in 2022, has been suspended, and the Adani Power import agreement signed in 2017 is under re-examination, while the 1996 Ganges Water Sharing Treaty has been placed in the "renewal/re-examination" category. At present, the interim government of Bangladesh has not yet issued an official notice regarding the cancellation of the agreements.
