Breaking: Trump's ultimatum extended again, by two weeks.
This is already his fifth "ultimatum."
It seems the ultimatum is merely a tool for delay:
“Based on conversations with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir, and in response to their request, I have agreed to suspend tonight's devastating strike against Iran, for a period of two weeks, provided Iran agrees to the 'COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING' of the Strait of Hormuz.
This will be a double-sided CEASEFIRE!
The reason for this decision is that we have already achieved and surpassed all military objectives, and significant progress has been made toward reaching a long-term PEACE agreement with Iran, as well as a final deal for peace in the Middle East.
We have received Iran’s 10-point proposal and believe it provides a viable foundation for negotiations.
The U.S. and Iran are nearly in agreement on virtually all past points of contention, but this two-week buffer period will help finalize and complete the agreement.
As President of the United States, and representing the nations of the Middle East, it is my great honor to witness this longstanding issue nearing resolution.
Thank you all for your attention!”
President Donald J. Trump
