Media: At least 25 vessels have crossed the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S.-Iran reconciliation memorandum was signed
According to The Washington Post, citing data from analytics firm Kpler, at least 25 vessels have passed through the Strait of Hormuz following the signing of the reconciliation memorandum between the United States and Iran.
The memorandum was signed remotely by Iran and the United States on the evening of June 18, aiming to end the military conflict that erupted on February 28. The agreement also sets a timeline for the U.S. lifting its maritime blockade and Iran resuming shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides will hold negotiations within the next 60 days.
The report stated: "On Thursday, 25 vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Although this represents only a portion of the ships stranded in the region, it marks the highest single-day number in over two weeks and one of the highest daily figures since the outbreak of the conflict."
The outlet cited data from TankerTrackers, indicating that approximately 18 million barrels of crude oil have been shipped out from Iranian ports and anchorages over the past five days.
The report also referenced statistics from Lloyd's Register, noting that around 550 large cargo ships remain waiting to transit the strait, including 160 tankers.
