The Pakistan Arab News Network reported on May 3 that, following direct intervention by the Pakistani government, China's Hangeng Trade Company Pakistan Limited, which operates in the Gwadar Port, has revoked its decision to cease operations. Hangeng Company is located in the Gwadar Free Zone and primarily engages in the processing and export of donkey meat and donkey hide. Recently, Hangeng accused the Pakistani government of creating prolonged uncertainty and systemic obstacles at the implementation level, despite its facilities meeting Chinese customs inspection and quarantine standards as well as international food safety requirements, thereby preventing it from obtaining necessary export approvals in Pakistan for an extended period and suffering continuous economic losses. As a result, Hangeng announced on May 1 that it would halt all business activities with Pakistan and terminate employment of all staff in the country. This move quickly drew high-level attention from the Pakistani government. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister Ahsan Iqbal of Pakistan’s Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives personally intervened, demanding relevant departments immediately address the company's concerns. According to sources, after receiving assurances from the government to eliminate all administrative and bureaucratic barriers, Hangeng formally withdrew its shutdown announcement on May 2 and decided to continue operations. Subsequently, the Pakistani government swiftly approved the relevant exports. Hangeng praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who assisted in resolving administrative procedures, as a "true friend of China."
