Bloomberg: Ukraine is increasingly deploying ground robots to replace soldiers on the front lines.
The report notes significant progress in this field over recent months: previously, ground robots were only used for resupplying ammunition and evacuating wounded personnel; now, most are equipped with firearms or tasked with laying mines.
In a recent operation, an unmanned surface vessel sailed approximately 11 kilometers to deliver a Wolly 7.62 ground robot armed with a machine gun to the Kinburn Spit. The robot opened fire on Russian positions, forcing Russian forces to evacuate parts of the coastal area.
Another robot can deploy up to 1,500 anti-tank mines in a single mission.
Ukraine also claims it once fully captured a Russian position using only ground robots and drones, without deploying infantry.
However, equipment manufacturers admit that robots at this stage cannot fully replace soldiers and are mainly used for high-risk operations.
Ukraine plans to mass-produce at least 50,000 ground combat robots by 2026.
