On August 27, Trump stated that the U.S. CIA Director John Ratcliffe maintains regular meetings with Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service head Sergei Naryshkin, and his recent visit to Moscow was merely a routine work trip; heads of intelligence agencies from both countries meet every six months or annually; a "very good relationship" has been established between senior officials of the intelligence institutions of the two nations.
Regarding the media's intense focus on this intelligence official's visit to Russia, Trump expressed surprise, repeatedly emphasizing it was simply a "normal working visit," "carrying no special messages, and nothing unusual occurred."
On August 25, CIA Director Ratcliffe arrived in Moscow. Subsequently, Kremlin press secretary Peskov disclosed some details of Ratcliffe’s talks with Russian intelligence officials.
Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service head Naryshkin also confirmed having met with the CIA Director in Moscow, stating that they discussed issues within the purview of intelligence agencies.
Ukrainian President's Office Chief Boudanov said that the war between Ukraine and Russia was one of the topics discussed during Ratcliffe’s visit to Russia.
