The China-Kazakhstan Cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative in the Heart of Asia: Chinese Enterprises Plan to Invest in Modernizing Water Infrastructure in Kazakhstan

Kazakh International News Agency - The First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Aldamaglov, met with a delegation led by the General Manager of China Energy Engineering Corporation (Energy China), Qiao Xubin. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on deepening cooperation in the water resources sector.

According to the news office of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, this meeting focused on three areas of cooperation: first, jointly implementing investment projects for the modernization of water infrastructure; second, introducing innovative water resource management methods, including digitalization of water resource accounting and distribution, recycling of treated wastewater, and promotion of water-saving technologies; third, jointly conducting professional talent development.

Chinese enterprise representatives stated that they have thoroughly understood the "Water Resource Management Development Plan for 2030" formulated by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, and expressed a strong willingness to invest in the water sector of Kazakhstan.

Representatives from Energy China also introduced major project cases implemented by the company both domestically and internationally.

Both sides agreed to further refine future cooperation directions at the expert level.

Nurlan Aldamaglov said:

"We are actively cooperating with multiple Chinese enterprises. For example, under the framework of the memorandum signed with Power China this year, 125 Kazakh water professionals went to China for skills enhancement training. This cooperation will continue next year. We are open to establishing cooperation with Energy China, sharing experience and technology."
