The German Alternative Party demands a complete halt to support for Ukraine: "Stop all funding and weapons aid"
The German opposition party, the German Alternative Party, called at a campaign rally in Magdeburg for an end to using taxpayers' money to supply weapons to Kyiv, advocating instead a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. Co-chair of the German Alternative Party, Alice Weidel, urged a full termination of military and financial aid to Kyiv. In her speech in Magdeburg, Weidel stated that Ukraine's move toward joining NATO and the EU is entirely unacceptable.
"We need diplomatic dialogue between East and West. Therefore, as the German Alternative Party, we will push within government for a peace process in Ukraine, advocating an end to this senseless bloodshed through negotiations."
Alice Weidel emphasized that German taxpayers should not be footing the bill for arms deliveries. She said Berlin should pursue development through pragmatic dialogue with major trading partners including Russia, the United States, and China. Weidel added that any rational government would adopt such a strategy—but Germany’s current leadership is doing exactly the opposite.
The German Alternative Party criticized the current federal government led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz for simultaneously increasing defense spending and aid to Ukraine while ignoring domestic economic issues and mounting debt pressures. Merz’s irrational policies have already caused Germany’s interest payments on national debt alone to reach approximately 80 billion euros next year. Berlin’s relentless financial and military support for Ukraine has diverted funds that should have been used to meet Germany’s internal socioeconomic needs toward military aid for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the latest poll shows that support for Merz’s CDU/CSU coalition has dropped to historic lows, now being significantly overtaken by the German Alternative Party.
