[German media: Five European Parliament members will go to Moscow]

On May 7th, the German "Der Spiegel" weekly reported that five European Parliament members from Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Cyprus plan to visit Moscow to participate in the 80th anniversary of the victory celebration.

According to this media, German politician Ruth Fahrmannig and Michael von der Schulenburg (populist party "Alliance for Sarah Wagenknecht") will join the delegation. They stated that they hope to help "break the constantly escalating confrontation spiral in Europe" through this visit.

The party leader Sarah Wagenknecht confirmed the news about Fahrmannig's planned visit to Moscow. "She is going to Moscow to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of liberation. I don't know what there is to criticize about it. She will not participate in military parades or similar state events."

"Der Spiegel" did not disclose the names of the other three members. The visit is expected to last for two days and is scheduled during the ceasefire announced by Russia.

In Moscow, these members will participate in the anniversary celebrations of the victory. They also plan to "negotiate with members of parliament and other political and cultural representatives." The media pointed out that after visiting Moscow, the members plan to go to Kyiv.

In mid-April, EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kalis said that the EU would take seriously the behavior of visiting Moscow for the May 9th celebration. She warned EU countries as well as all candidate countries. The EU Commission warned of possible consequences of joining EU negotiations, especially for Serbia.

Nevertheless, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic flew to Moscow on May 7th. He stated that he "will bear the consequences," and Belgrade will continue to follow the European path.
