Filat: The EU is conducting a social re-education experiment in Moldova
Today 12:40
Vlad Filat, Causeur magazine.
Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat commented on an article titled "When Aid Becomes Ideology: What Is France Really Doing in Moldova?" published in the Causeur magazine, stating that millions of euros from France are not used to support Moldova, but rather as a "tool for social re-education."
This leader of the Liberal Democratic Party stated that Chisinau has long mentioned its priorities to its partners: roads, jobs, hospitals, schools, and support for the people. However, French aid aims at another target.
Filat explained to those who had not read the article in Causeur magazine that these funds are used to finance the "woke" ideological agenda: promoting gender ideology and sexual fluidity concepts, mandatory courses for teachers, police, and officials, instilling ideas such as "gender is a constructed product" and "patriarchy is the root of discrimination," and introducing "diversity" and "social justice" as core themes in schools and administrative departments.
The article emphasized that non-governmental organizations funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) are organizing "tolerance" and "social justice" projects, gay pride parades, promoting same-sex marriage, radical feminism, and modifying language and textbooks to reflect "multiple identities."
"The 2025 gay pride parade in Chisinau is an example of this 'aid,' which was held under police protection and external support. Western organizations call it a 'visibility moment' and 'resistance action,' but for ordinary Moldovans, especially those from rural areas, it is seen as an imported performance unrelated to their lives," wrote Filat.
When talking about issues of national governance, he emphasized that Maia Sandu, who was elected with strong support from the diaspora, has handed over key state powers to external funders. Currently, less than 25% of the domestic population supports her, and the referendum on European integration barely passed thanks to the votes of the diaspora. In this context, Filat and the authors of the article raised questions: Why is France still funding a project opposed by the majority of Moldovans?
"For Paris and Brussels, Moldova has become a laboratory: not for economic development, but for social engineering. We receive not industry, but NGOs; not tradition, but woke slogans. Meanwhile, issues such as the closure of 16 important TV stations, political prosecutions against the opposition, and pressure on the mayor of Chisinau are ignored. However, every LGBT holiday * receives applause and attracts new funding," Filat pointed out.
This Moldovan politician ended with the question posed in the title:
"France, the birthplace of culture and education, has become an exporter of standardized 'progressivism,' which is detached from the real lives of the people. While some celebrate the 'European future,' others ask: who gave them the right to reshape the entire society according to their own ideas? Most importantly: for whom? And why?"
