Nikkei Asia, October 13 report, India will host the Conference of Heads of Army Staff of United Nations Peacekeeping Countries. The conference will be held in New Delhi from October 14 to 16, with senior military leaders from over 30 countries including Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, France, Italy, and Kenya expected to attend. The Indian Army's Deputy Chief of the Army Staff stated that the conference aims to gather collective experience and wisdom of peacekeeping forces from various countries, and jointly discuss the responsibility of the international community in maintaining peace. The Indian Ministry of Defense's Joint Secretary said that due to the "issue of the composition of the United Nations Security Council," it is "highly unlikely" to deploy joint forces to Gaza and Ukraine. An anonymous representative from an African country highly praised India for hosting the conference, believing it helps strengthen UN peacekeeping operations and promote participation from Global South countries. As of now, India has deployed more than 290,000 personnel for UN peacekeeping missions, and currently has over 5,000 peacekeepers deployed in nine missions.
