U.S. media report: Musk announced on X that he plans to gift one share of SpaceX stock to every child in the U.S. next year, stating, "This is just the beginning."

SpaceX went public in June with a market valuation of approximately $2 trillion; its recent closing price was around $146. With about 73 million Americans under the age of 18, covering all children would result in a total value of roughly $10.7 billion.

The announcement appears to be a response to Anthropic’s recent declaration that it will allocate at least 5% of its shares—valued at $48 billion based on the latest assessment—to a "public benefit fund" for social initiatives. Musk suggested instead that shares should be distributed directly to the public.

It remains unclear how shares would be distributed or whether all children would qualify. Technology giants are facing increasingly rigorous scrutiny over AI safety, labor displacement, and the environmental impact of data centers.
