Russian media praised: China has developed a space washing machine!
No detergent is needed, 400 milliliters of water can wash 800 grams of clothes.
On September 2, TASS reported according to the South China Morning Post.
A group of experts from Beijing designed a compact washing machine,
used for orbital space stations and even future bases on other planets.
According to the South China Morning Post, this washing machine does not require chemical detergents, it uses ozone to wash clothes,
and consumes very little water.
This "erasing device" is cube-shaped, with dimensions comparable to a regular suitcase, weighing 12 kilograms.
The machine uses only 400 milliliters of water to wash 800 grams of clothes in one washing cycle.
Water is delivered into the equipment in the form of mist.
The machine uses ultraviolet light to produce ozone - a powerful disinfectant that can kill bacteria on clothes.
It takes 30 minutes to wash clothes, including spraying water mist, ozone disinfection, and drying.
All these processes are carried out in a sealed chamber to prevent gas leakage.
Russian media pointed out that so far, astronauts have not had the opportunity to wash clothes in orbit.
They wear their clothes for a specific period of time,
then pack them into cargo capsules,
and then burn them in Earth's atmosphere.
The new washing system solves these problems,
and the developers believe that this can reduce the total weight of clothes in China's space station by more than 60%.
