US Vice President: China's power generation is three times that of the US, and this situation needs to change

US Vice President Vance said in an interview with Glenn Beck on Thursday that China's current power generation is three times that of the US, and this situation needs to change.

Vance said, "Currently, China's power generation is about three times that of the US, while we have been stagnant for the past 20 years. That is innovation, that is development. This must change."

Vance added that the US needs to increase power generation because it is a key element of the next wave of innovation.

According to a Friday report by The New York Times, the Trump administration is working on an executive order to accelerate the construction of nuclear power plants to meet America's growing electricity demand.

The report said that the US aims to quadruple its nuclear power capacity, increasing it from nearly 100 gigawatts at present to 400 gigawatts by 2050.

According to Statista data, China's power generation capacity was approximately 3,349 gigawatts in 2024, up from around 3,000 gigawatts the previous year. By comparison, the US power generation capacity is approximately 1,225 gigawatts.
