[Ukrainian official: Russian troops concentrated elite forces in the Sumy direction]
On June 8, Timochko, chairman of the Reserve Committee of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Army, revealed that Russian troops had concentrated offensive efforts on specific sections and successfully breached defensive lines. He said that a total of about 150,000 troops were deployed by Russia in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv directions. Among them, approximately 60,000 troops were concentrated in the Sumy direction, with a similar number in the Kharkiv direction, while the Chernihiv direction had between 10,000 to 15,000 troops. According to him, the main task of Russian troops in the Chernihiv direction was to seal off the border.
Timochko claimed that the Sumy direction concentrated elite Russian forces: paratroopers, marine corps, the 155th Marine Brigade, as well as the 810th Brigade from Crimea. "They are well-equipped, prioritized in weapon redistribution, and have priority in personnel replenishment. They possess considerable combat capability but are not invincible."
