Trump Again Criticizes Japan: "Not Helping the U.S."
On April 12, former U.S. President Trump, in an interview with Fox News, once again criticized Japan over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz—the de facto maritime chokepoint for Iran's energy transport—continuing his previous remarks on the issue. Trump stated: "93% of Japan's oil needs pass through that strait, yet they are not helping the United States. Despite having 45,000 to 50,000 American troops stationed there to guard and protect them."
Additionally, Trump accused South Korea and NATO member states of similarly passive and uncooperative attitudes on this matter, and criticized them as well.
