About Sino-European relations, our top leadership has made a clear statement! On July 24th, the China-EU summit was held at the Great Hall of the People. Regarding Sino-European relations, our top leader stated that the challenges currently facing Europe are not from China. If we measure China by the path Western countries have taken, it would lead to an incomplete understanding of China. Mutual dependence is not a risk, and the integration of interests is not a threat. Enhancing competitiveness cannot be achieved by building walls and barriers; decoupling and cutting off supply chains will only isolate oneself.
We hope that European countries maintain an open trade and investment market, and exercise restraint in using restrictive economic and trade tools. China and Europe should support resolving international disputes through political means. Obviously, this statement of ours aims to first hope that Europe has a correct understanding of China, and hopes that Europe does not view our development through the lens of ideological prejudice. Second, we hope that Europe continues to strengthen cooperation with us. China is not a threat to Europe, and Europe should continue to adhere to the fundamental nature of Sino-European relations being mutually beneficial and win-win.
Thirdly, regarding the Ukraine-Russia war, we hope that Europe understands and supports our position, and hopes that Europe works with us to solve the issue through political means. Obviously, from the statement of our top leadership, we are clearly aware that there are indeed differences between China and Europe, but we are viewing Sino-European relations with a constructive perspective. Undoubtedly, the key to dealing with Sino-European differences lies in how Europe perceives China and our development. We hope that Sino-European relations move in the same direction, and we also expect Europe to have fewer prejudices towards us and more practical approaches.
