China has successfully achieved commercial operation of flying taxis, taking the global lead!
French media: Flying taxis: What Paris Olympics failed to achieve, the Chinese have succeeded! According to a report by Agence France-Presse on August 8, China's civil unmanned aircraft has pioneered the concept of flying taxis. Starting from June 2025, flying taxis will be available for tourists in cities such as Guangzhou and Hefei in China. French journalists exclaimed that the aerial taxis once dreamed of during the Paris Olympics were not realized, while China's "aerial taxis" have turned dreams into reality and achieved commercial operations.
On March 28, both Guangdong Yihaung General Aviation and Hefei Heyi received the Operation Certificate (OC) for civil unmanned aircraft issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. These are the first batch of operation certificates for manned civil unmanned aircraft in China, marking that the certified companies can carry out commercial operations in approved areas and provide paid passenger transport services.
French journalists reported that at the end of last year, Guangzhou's Yihaung EH216-S eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft) would soon obtain the Operation Certificate (OC) and officially usher in the era of commercial operations. The world's first civil unmanned aircraft operation certificate also lagged behind Hefei.
French journalists introduced several key points. First, the journey cannot exceed 25 minutes, and the aircraft can reach a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour when flying at low altitudes according to the predetermined route. These machines are called EH216-S, which are 100% self-developed, so no pilot is required, and most importantly, they are 100% electric-powered. The drone can carry two passengers.
French journalists also stated that the technology behind flying taxis lies in the Evtol (electric vertical takeoff and landing) system. Flying taxis benefit from electric propellers or rotors, allowing the aircraft to take off and land without a runway. These devices have undergone 10,000 test flights, never encountering any problems even in simulated failures or collisions.
For flying taxis, Guangzhou and Hefei are pioneer cities. They are the first cities authorized to operate flying taxis for commercial purposes, which is different from Europe and the United States. According to reports from CNBC, the manufacturer Yihaung hopes to expand its low-altitude transportation operation center to other regions of China. The first flight may take place in June 2025.
