Major Zaw Myint Thu, head of the press and information group of the Myanmar Defense and Security Council, stated that they are currently selecting safe locations for the use of nuclear energy in Myanmar.

This was stated by Major Zaw Myint Thu while responding to media questions regarding the visit of the Acting President, Chairman of the State Law and Order Restoration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, to Russia and Kazakhstan.

Major Zaw Myint Thu also stated that nuclear energy is a safe energy source, one that can provide stable electricity.

He said that given the possibility of conducting research related to nuclear energy, medical research, and all other types of research, he wanted to inform everyone that this is an energy that must be promoted for the development of the country.

The Acting President, Chairman of the State Law and Order Restoration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, had previously spoken at the World Nuclear Energy Week Forum held in Moscow, Russia on September 25, under the theme "From the Birth of New Technologies to the Outlook for a New World Order," stating that Myanmar is closely cooperating with the Russian state-owned Rosatom company to build a small nuclear power plant in Myanmar.
