French President: No Immediate Deployment of Troops to Ukraine

Sputnik News, Paris, November 26 - French President Macron said in an interview with Luxembourg Radio RTL that France will not immediately deploy its troops to Ukraine, although the possibility of French troops joining so-called "deterrence forces" after the combat operations is not ruled out.

Macron said, "I think the French should not panic. I see that many people are afraid we will (immediately send troops to Ukraine). But it's not like that."

Nevertheless, Macron did not rule out the possibility of French forces participating in a "deterrence force" plan aimed at ensuring Ukraine's security and training the Ukrainian army after the combat operations end.

Macron stated that these forces themselves may not be deployed on Ukrainian territory, but could be stationed in neighboring countries, but they will work closely with the Ukrainian military to ensure the security of Ukrainian airspace.

In September, a so-called "voluntary alliance" summit co-chaired by British Prime Minister Starmer and French President Macron was held in Paris. After the summit, Macron announced that 26 countries had expressed willingness to deploy a "deterrence force" after the ceasefire in Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service previously stated that the West would deploy a so-called peacekeeping task force of about 100,000 personnel in Ukraine to restore its combat capabilities. The agency believes this would become a de facto occupation of Ukraine by the West.

Russian President Putin stated that if a peaceful solution is reached in Ukraine, there would be no need for foreign troops to be stationed there. Putin emphasized that if NATO forces appear in Ukraine, they would become a legitimate target for Russia.
