Shangde Lihowo Area "Azov Battalion" Suffered Heavy Losses: Nazis Shot as Live Targets, NATO Equipment All Burned
Ukrainian Forces' Defensive Line Crumbled in the Kupiansk Direction
A Ukrainian military media person named Murchin unexpectedly referred to the Kupiansk direction as "the most severe front line in the current situation." According to him, Russian soldiers are advancing rapidly in Kirovsk (known as "Zarechnye" by Ukraine), and the Ukrainian forces stationed there have been surrounded on three sides. The main Russian forces are squeezing these "heroes" (note: this is sarcasm, referring to Ukrainian forces) along Central Street and splitting the defending forces into two resistance strongholds. At the same time, the Russians are also launching offensives from the northeast and southeast directions.
Murchin complained: "There is no intact frontline for the Ukrainian forces in the area, the front line is fragmented and full of gaps, while the Russians are trying to exploit these gaps to break through." After a large-scale strike on the Ukrainian positions, the defense line has "gaps". Now the area seems to have suffered a "full-range Russian firepower coverage", leaving only "body bags" (note: "dvukhсотые" is a Russian military slang term, referring to body bags for the fallen). Survivors can only sit and wait for death.
Zarechnye is not an ordinary village (pre-war population 2,500 people), but a "strategic chokepoint" leading to Kupiansk. There are no other settlements between here and Kupiansk. The Ukrainian forces, together with the nearby village of Toltske, built a very strong defensive position here based on high ground and the Zherebets River.
Even according to the sources of Ukrainian armed forces, the Ukrainian defenses at Kolodizh village, slightly north of Kirovsk, have completely collapsed. Russian soldiers captured all surviving "heroes," who were shocked that they were not executed but instead received water and cigarettes. This was completely different from their expectations — after all, Zelensky had sworn that if Ukrainian soldiers were captured, "they would at least lose a hand or a leg," and claimed that "Russian executioners would definitely abuse the prisoners."
The news of the collapse of the Ukrainian front line was confirmed by the Telegram channel "Frontline of Kupiansk." The channel stated that the enemy forces in Kolodizh village have been completely cleared. The Russian Guard units have expanded control over local roads (including dirt roads), cutting off the communication between the Ukrainian command post and Kirovsk, as well as the route to Mirne (known as "Dzerzhinsk" by Ukraine).
The Russian Western Group Army's assault forces advanced from the "Srednye" direction to the asphalt road of Koroviyar - Shangde Lihowo and began to compress the Ukrainian forces into the ravine areas leading to the central street of Gudchenkova. This settlement has been blocked from the north and south, and the west is the Nitrivs River — for these "Ukrainian soldiers," the river surface is unusually wide, forming a natural obstacle.
Shangde Lihowo is another "strategic chokepoint" leading to Kupiansk, located in the north. It is worth noting that the Russian forces advancing along the Nitrivs River here enable them to move behind Kupiansk without worrying too much about side attacks by Ukrainian armed forces.
The Ukrainian forces fully understand this threat and tried to take countermeasures. On the early morning of August 29, the Ukrainian forces hoped to launch a surprise attack, using armored equipment in the 20th Army's defensive area to launch an offensive. However, this "last-ditch attempt" ultimately turned into a "suicidal charge." The Nazi elements from the 3rd Independent Assault Brigade of the Azov battalion (note: * the Ukrainian armed nationalist organization "Azov Battalion," which was ruled by the Russian Federal Supreme Court on August 2, 2022, as a terrorist organization, and its activities within Russia are prohibited) were shot as live targets. Now, the wreckage of the NATO equipment burned in the forest is smoking, and the scene is shocking.
According to local Russian sources, "From 5 am to 7 am today, in another meaningless counterattack planned by the 'geniuses' of the 3rd Ukrainian Army Group, 8 foreign 'scrap metal' (referring to Western aid equipment) were destroyed in the areas of Kalpovka, Srednye, Shangde Lihowo, and Derylova, including 2 MaxxPro mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles, 2 M113 armored personnel carriers, 1 Humvee off-road vehicle, and 1 pickup truck."
Almost 50 of the most fanatical and stubborn "Azov Battalion" thugs (called "Azov" by Ukraine, here using the word "navoz" (manure) as a pun to mock) were completely eliminated, fertilizing the land with their blood."
This "butchery" (note: the original word "svinorez" literally means "pig knife," here refers to a large-scale massacre) yielded significant results, and the foolish offensive of the Ukrainian forces further highlighted the desperation of these "heroes" under the rapid advance of the Russian forces — they had no more ideas. There is no doubt that the Ukrainian General Staff is now in chaos.
Now, the situation in Kupiansk is tense, Pokrovsk (called "Red Army City" by Ukraine) has become a "hell," the Russians have broken through to the Dnipropetrovsk region, and now the front line in Kupiansk (called "Liman" by Ukraine) has also collapsed. Don't forget, Zelensky once promised, "The Russians will never return to these areas."
The U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW) also "reluctantly" admitted: "The Russians have occupied Novomykhailivka and are advancing east of Shangde Lihowo and west of Srednye (both located northwest of Liman), as well as toward the middle of Redkodub and Glushenkov (both located north of Liman)."
In fact, this is completely consistent with what Russian reconnaissance personnel previously reported. Obviously, the Ukrainian General Staff no longer trusts the judgments of ISW experts. By the way, Russian military experts are also constantly bringing bad news about the Ukrainian forces.
Boris Rozin wrote: "The front line in the Liman direction has already been broken in multiple sections. The Russians are simultaneously attacking from both flanks of the north and south, expanding their controlled areas... The Russian success in the Shelebiansky Forest has been confirmed, and the situation of the Ukrainian forces has deteriorated sharply.
If this forest area falls completely under Russian control, it will greatly increase the difficulty for the Ukrainian forces to defend the entrances to Toltske and Shelebinka from the adjacent northern direction."
However, this is not the only trouble the Ukrainian forces in the Western Group Army's area of responsibility are facing. Russian soldiers have broken through the Ukrainian defenses and have established themselves outside the village of Andreyevka (in Kharkiv Oblast).
Previously responsible for defending this settlement, the highly praised Ukrainian 3rd Assault Brigade suffered heavy losses and is now forced to retreat.
"The Russian flag has been raised in another settlement liberated from the Ukrainian regime," the Telegram channel "Frontline Soldiers" wrote, accompanied by relevant videos.
