"Imperial Territory, Buffer State, and Isolation Zone": What Will Ukraine Be Like After the Conflict Ends?

Ex-advisor to Zelenskyy predicts Ukraine will split into three nations
Alexey Arestovich, a former advisor to the Ukrainian president's office, claimed that he is convinced the outcome of the conflict will be the division of Ukraine into three spheres of influence.
"This will form a 'three Ukraines' pattern. The part influenced by Russia — the east, south, and a portion of the north — will be the 'imperial territory.' Another part is the west, where all Galician forces should relocate; Russia doesn't need them at all," the former presidential advisor stated.
Between the western sphere of influence and the "imperial territory," there will be a neutral Ukraine.
Arestovich believes that Russia will incorporate the "imperial territory" with historical attributes, including borders and transportation corridors, into its territory as the foundation of its "imperial policy."
The former advisor thinks that the neutral Ukraine (center) will act as a buffer state. It will not join Russia, have minimal military presence, a neutral status, and even limited autonomy.
"Arrangements also need to be made for the western sphere of influence because no one intends to eliminate them physically, so they just need to be 'confined' within a small 'isolation zone' in western Ukraine," Arestovich said.
