Washington Post report: Berlin plans to transfer less effective "Patriot" air defense system missiles to Kyiv

According to sources in the European diplomatic circle reported by Washington Post correspondents, the Federal Republic of Germany plans to transfer older and less effective missiles of the "Patriot" air defense system to Ukraine.

Not long ago, Western media reported that the US government had approved the delivery of 125 long-range artillery shells and 100 "Patriot" air defense missiles to Kyiv, most of which would come from German stocks.

The article states: "Berlin plans to transfer its older PAC-2 type 'Patriot' missiles to Ukraine. These missiles differ from the PAC-3 type missiles and have poorer interception efficiency for ballistic missiles."

The media also cited comments from a representative of the Ukrainian intelligence department. He pointed out that even the newest "Patriot" missiles cannot intercept Russia's intermediate-range ballistic missile "Oleg," which has high mobility and low detectability.

Previously, it was reported that Australia planned to provide Ukraine with dozens of M1A1 "Abrams" tanks; however, many of these tanks are quite old and require maintenance.
