Iranian Parliament Approves Strategic Partnership Treaty with Russia

The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, submitted the ratified Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on June 15.

"The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has submitted the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Iran and Russia," TASS cited from the document. According to the new treaty, the two countries will expand bilateral relations in areas of common interest.

In addition, the two countries plan to strengthen security and defense cooperation and collaborate at regional and global levels.

Previously, the Russian Federation Council approved the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran on April 16. The treaty stipulates that the two countries will develop equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in political, defense, economic, security, trade, investment, as well as energy, infrastructure, transportation, and communication fields.

On April 8, members of the Russian State Duma approved the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran. It is worth noting that both sides are committed to close coordination of activities at regional and global levels. On March 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted a proposal for the approval of the treaty to the State Duma.
