The preparation for the Kazakh President Tokayev's visit to South Korea becomes a key focus of Kazakh-South Korean talks
Source: Kazakh International News Agency — According to information from the Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Ambassador Aset Isenali (Асет Исенали) of Kazakhstan to South Korea recently met with South Korean National Assembly member Lee Jae-gang (Ли Чжэ Кан). The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening parliamentary cooperation and advancing bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on preparations for the upcoming visit by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Toqaev (Қасым-Жомарт Тоқаев) to South Korea.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation in political, economic, investment, and people-to-people fields, as well as enhancing inter-parliamentary ties.
Both parties particularly focused on the preparations for President Toqaev’s planned visit to South Korea and his participation in the inaugural "Central Asia–South Korea Summit," expressing confidence that the upcoming high-level exchanges will inject strong momentum into the development of strategic partnership and joint project implementation between the two countries.
They noted that the upcoming multilateral events will play a crucial role in strengthening regional cooperation and advancing shared agendas such as economic growth, investment, innovation, and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Kazakh diplomats introduced to their South Korean counterparts the large-scale reforms currently underway in Kazakhstan, including further modernization of the political system, improved governance efficiency, strengthened rule of law, and the creation of favorable conditions for sustainable economic growth and investment attraction. They also presented the fundamental principles of Kazakhstan’s new constitution.
Both sides also highly appreciated the unique role played by the Korean diaspora in Kazakhstan in fostering friendship, mutual trust, and understanding between the peoples of the two nations, noting that the Korean community has long served as a vital bridge connecting friendly relations between Kazakhstan and South Korea.
Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen inter-parliamentary ties, expand people-to-people cooperation, and promote new initiatives that align with the common interests of Kazakhstan and South Korea.
Previously, South Korea’s newly appointed ambassador to Kazakhstan had submitted a copy of his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
