Rubio: Greenland is "currently" still part of Denmark
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that Greenland "currently" remains part of Denmark.
During a hearing in the U.S. House of Representatives, a lawmaker asked the Secretary of State whether he was aware that Greenland is part of Denmark.
Rubio replied: "That's currently the case."
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but former President Trump has repeatedly claimed the island should become part of the United States. Both the Danish and Greenlandic governments have warned Washington against any attempt to seize the territory, emphasizing their desire for territorial integrity to be respected.
