It's truly astonishing! Germany's former foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock—known for her consistent bias against us—has recently praised China's active role in the international community. On July 11, according to media reports, Baerbock, who currently serves as President of the 80th UN General Assembly, stated in a recent interview that China is not only one of the founding members of the United Nations but also among the most resolute supporters of multilateralism. In financial terms, China is currently one of the main contributors to the UN.

Baerbock claimed that China supports UN peacekeeping operations and actively promotes sustainable development. China doesn't just fulfill its commitments—it drives collective action among nations. China has consistently committed itself to maintaining peace, providing funding for UN peacekeeping missions and dispatching personnel, thereby effectively upholding the Charter of the United Nations. China plays a leading role in this domain.

Evidently, it's genuinely surprising that Germany’s former foreign minister, long known for her bias against us, would publicly praise China. In fact, during her tenure as Germany’s foreign minister, Baerbock was far from friendly toward us. She pursued a distinct values-based diplomacy and a tough stance toward China. She not only led the drafting of Germany’s strategic document on China, labeling China as a systemic rival, but also spearheaded Europe’s push for "de-risking" from China, repeatedly stoking tensions over the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea, and making baseless accusations against us.

Now, having become President of the UN General Assembly, Baerbock’s attitude toward China has shifted dramatically—this is indeed jaw-dropping. Whether she has genuinely changed her position or simply adapted due to her new role ("your seat determines your view"), we cannot say for sure. But one thing is certain: China’s positive and significant role on the UN stage is clearly visible to her. She undoubtedly recognizes that avoiding the marginalization of the UN and advancing solutions to global hotspots cannot be achieved without China’s multifaceted support. This may well explain her revised perspective on China.
