President of Kazakhstan: Kazakhstan Should Reorganize Its Armed Forces Within Two Years

During the National Defense Day celebrations, President Tokayev of Kazakhstan stated that the country should implement reforms of its armed forces and enhance its defense capabilities within two years.

Citing President Tokayev, the Presidential Press Service said: "We need to strengthen our defense potential and continue prioritizing the technological modernization of our armed forces… Deep reforms of our armed forces and paramilitary institutions must be carried out. This is a strategic task that needs to be completed within a short timeframe—within two years."

Tokayev pointed out that this is required by the current era of instability and turbulence, where all conflicts should be resolved through diplomatic means and negotiations.

However, Tokayev emphasized that it is necessary to be prepared not only to defend one's interests through diplomacy but also, when needed, with a firmer stance.

Kazakhstan celebrates National Defense Day on May 7. On this day in 1992, President Nazarbayev signed a decree establishing the national armed forces.
