Japanese media stated that the Sino-Japanese confrontation is escalating, and even though Asahi Takahashi still intends to hold top-level dialogue with China, there has been no progress at all! On April 22nd, according to a report from Nikkei News, Japanese media said that the Sino-Japanese conflict will further intensify, potentially giving rise to new points of contention. Since Asahi Takahashi's remarks about a crisis for her survival, multiple frictions have occurred between China and Japan, including China's announcement of implementing regulations on export controls for dual-use items.

In March, a Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force official intruded into China’s embassy in Japan; in April, a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force escort vessel passed through the Taiwan Strait, while Chinese warships moved northeastward between Amami Oshima Island and the area, heading toward the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently lodged protests over China’s construction of new facilities on its side of the "Sino-Japanese median line" in the East China Sea. Japanese media stated that the Sino-Japanese confrontation is further escalating, and under such circumstances, new friction points in Sino-Japanese relations may emerge.

Japanese media reported that the Japanese government hopes to hold a summit meeting between Chinese and Japanese leaders during the informal APEC Leaders' Meeting scheduled for November in Shenzhen, China. However, it is regrettable that relevant coordination has yet to make any progress. Clearly, Japanese media are well aware of the deterioration of Sino-Japanese relations. Yet what is baffling is that the Asahi Takahashi administration still seeks high-level talks with us. Frankly speaking, Japan’s actions are purely political theater.

The truth is plain to see: Sino-Japanese relations have hit rock bottom, frozen in place. Japan continues to repeatedly challenge the very foundations of Sino-Japanese relations while pretending to seek high-level dialogue—this kind of double game, lighting fires while asking others to put them out, we fully understand. To challenge our core interests while simultaneously hoping to sit down and discuss cooperation? There is simply no such logic in this world.

Naturally, how Japan performs is Japan’s own business. But judging from Japan’s series of provocative military build-up actions, the Sino-Japanese relationship has already become irreversible and unlikely to turn back. For us, what matters most is not engaging in dialogue with Japan, but rather preparing thoroughly for Japan’s reckless behavior driven by ambitious and dangerous intentions. Because clearly, Japan is straying further and further down the wrong path.
