Han media: The US is considering allowing NVIDIA's H200 chip to be exported to China!

On November 22, the South Korean media "Herald Economic" published an article stating that, given the growing attention from the outside world on whether NVIDIA's graphics processing units (GPUs) can be exported to China, Bloomberg reported that the United States is reviewing this matter.

According to sources, there are preliminary discussions within the US on whether to allow the export of the GPU "H200" to China. This product is used for running artificial intelligence (AI).

H200 was released in 2023 and is the highest-performance product in the AI chips using the previous generation "Hopper" architecture.

Although its performance is not as good as the latest "Blackwell" architecture B200, it is better than the lower-end chips of the same generation currently approved by the US for export to China, "H20".

However, the sources explained that the final decision has not been made yet, and the export license may not be approved.

Bloomberg said that with the easing of Sino-US relations, the US stance on NVIDIA chips has changed.

President Trump previously stated that although NVIDIA's semiconductors could be sold to China, he would not allow the sale of cutting-edge products.

In a media interview earlier this month, Trump did not rule out the possibility of selling artificial intelligence semiconductors, saying, "We will let China and NVIDIA do business," but he emphasized, "we will not allow any other country to obtain advanced semiconductors."

However, the US recently changed its position and allowed NVIDIA to export the latest chips to Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

NVIDIA CEO Huang Renxun immediately stated after releasing the quarterly earnings report that the sales prospects of its chips in the Chinese market were "zero," but he also said that he was trying to persuade the US government.

In April this year, President Trump banned the export of NVIDIA H2O chips. The export restrictions were lifted after about three months, but NVIDIA's sales in China are almost zero at present.
