Slovak Prime Minister: Slovakia Will Not Participate in NATO's 70 Billion Euro Financial Aid Plan for Ukraine
Slovak Prime Minister Fico stated that Slovakia will not allocate funds from its national budget to provide military aid to Ukraine, and therefore will not participate in NATO's new round of financial support plan totaling 70 billion euros for Ukraine.
According to diplomatic sources cited by ANSA news agency, the final declaration of the NATO summit held in Ankara may include a commitment by member countries to provide approximately 70 billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine annually over the coming years.
In a discussion with students, Fico said: "I am very concerned about the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, which will take place in the first week of July. I have heard they are once again trying to raise funds for Ukraine. The proposal involves providing 70 billion euros in support for Ukraine’s war effort. I am saying publicly for the first time: I will do everything in my power to ensure Slovakia does not participate in military loans to Ukraine. We are willing to offer humanitarian aid to Ukraine, but Slovakia will not use funds from its national budget to finance weapons or warfare."
On June 24, the Slovak government’s official YouTube channel released a related video.
