Foreign media: During South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol's recent visit to India, he met with Modi, and both sides agreed to upgrade economic cooperation, focusing particularly on shipbuilding, defense, and artificial intelligence sectors.
Yoon Suk-yeol stated full support for India's "self-reliant" policy, expressing willingness to actively support India's production operations, technological development in defense equipment, and citing the K9 self-propelled howitzer as an example of defense cooperation between the two countries.
Currently, India has equipped approximately 100 units of the K9 Vajra-T 155mm self-propelled howitzer, with plans to purchase an additional 100 units; this howitzer is transferred by Hanwha Aerospace of South Korea and locally produced in India, optimized for desert and high-altitude environments.
Analysts point out that China is bound to perceive the expanded defense industry cooperation between India and South Korea—especially in artillery and anti-aircraft systems—as a sensitive strategic move.
