Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that on the occasion of the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a written New Year address on the 20th. President Ebrahim Raisi also delivered a speech on the same day.
In his address, Mojtaba Khamenei reiterated that national unity is crucial to foiling the enemies' plots.
Mojtaba Khamenei outlined major events of the previous Persian year, mentioning that the people of the country experienced two wars and one riot.
He stated that the US and Israel used their agents to create countless disasters, causing significant losses, under the assumption that the Iranian people would turn to the enemy camp under the economic pressure imposed on them.
Mojtaba Khamenei analyzed the strategic intentions behind the current war, believing that this war was launched by the enemies after failing to incite large-scale public movements.
Mojtaba Khamenei said that the enemies hold "fantasies," thinking that killing the head of state and several key military figures would make the Iranian people fall into fear and despair, thereby withdrawing from the battlefield.
However, despite numerous challenges, the enemies suffered heavy blows from the Iranian people, hence "they have begun to make many contradictory and absurd statements, which are signs of their mental confusion and weak cognition."
He emphasized: "The front lines of Iran are far broader than the narrow and limited perception of the enemies."
Mojtaba Khamenei thanked the people for their "unprecedented unity," pointing out that this unity "transcends all differences in religion, ideology, culture, and political positions," and has left the enemy camp "divided."
He particularly emphasized relations with neighboring countries, saying, "I believe our eastern neighbors are as close as family to us."
He called for regional harmony and urged "the two brotherly countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan to establish better relations." He also explicitly denied Iran's involvement in attacks against Oman and Turkey, believing that Israel uses false flag tactics to create discord between Iran and its neighboring countries.
Persian President Ebrahim Raisi proposed in his address on the 20th that a security mechanism composed of Islamic countries in the Middle East be established to ensure regional peace and security.
He emphasized, "We do not need the presence of external forces in this region. We can form an 'Islamic Council of the Middle East' through cooperation among Islamic countries and regulate our security, economic, cultural, and political relations within this framework."
Raisi said that Iran has declared to the world that it has no intention of creating chaos in the region, nor does it intend to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, and does not want any country to be forced to stockpile weapons for self-defense, then wait for territorial attacks.
"We can solve problems through mutual help and joint efforts," he said, "it is Israel that creates chaos, instability, genocide, assassinations, and sabotage in the region."
In Persian, Nowruz means "a new day," it not only marks the beginning of a new year, but as an ancient festival, it is also a celebration of life, rebirth, and the victory of light over darkness. Nowruz can be traced back to more than 3,000 years ago in the Zoroastrian era, symbolizing the arrival of spring, and people usually celebrate Nowruz on the vernal equinox (March 20 or 21).
